(1) Class setting
Language students mainly include the following categories: undergraduate preparatory students, long-term language students, language exchange students, and short-term language students.
Undergraduate preparatory students are for those students with weak language foundation who want to complete language study and enter undergraduate study in the shortest time; long-term language students are for students who love Chinese and Chinese culture, and plan to live in China for a long time, but have no intention of entering undergraduate programs; Language exchange students are outstanding students from partner universities, and the exchange duration is usually 1-2 semesters; short-term language students generally study for a short time, about 1-4 weeks, and they are mainly recommended by partner universities.
According to the level of students, language students are divided into elementary and intermediate classes. Students in the elementary class can apply to be transferred to the intermediate class after being assessed; similarly, if the students in the intermediate class cannot keep up with the learning pace, they will be automatically returned to the elementary class.
(2) Teaching schedule
The language class focuses on language teaching, and the curriculum is relatively intensive. About 20 class hours are arranged for language learning every week, combined with evening self-study and tutoring classes at the same time. After one semester of language study, students should be able to master about 600 Chinese characters, be able to cope with daily conversations, understand basic Chinese grammar, have certain writing skills, and reach HSK level 3. After one year of language learning, most students can master about 1,200 Chinese characters, and their reading and writing skills have improved significantly, reaching HSK level 4.
