Vice President HE Mingke Attended the Cooperation Meeting with Lancaster University


On December 8th, Vice President HE Mingke attended the online and offline synchronous  meeting with Lancaster University. Professor David Higgitt, Academic Dean of Lancaster University College at Beijing Jiaotong University, Sascha Athey, Academic Coordinator of Lancaster University College at Beijing Jiaotong University , Sophie Lu, Head of External Engagement of Lancaster University , HAN Xing, Director of Department of International Relations of BWU, ZHANG Guosheng, Dean of School of Economics of BWU, WANG Shuhua, Dean of School of Foreign Languages of BWU, LYU Bo, Deputy Dean of Business School of BWU, LYU Yinan, Vice Director of Department of International Relations of BWU participated in the meeting. Professor Tom Buckley, Director of Recruitment, Admissions and International Development of Lancaster University, participated remotely. The meeting was hosted by HAN Xing and Sophie Lu.



Vice President HE Mingke first extended warm welcome to the Lancaster delegation and stated that BWU has been actively developing global partnerships in the face of new opportunities for the construction of Beijing Municipal Administrative Center and the integration of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, and strives to make full use of the advantageous resources of overseas partners to enhance BWU's abilities in the fields of talent training, scientific research and social service. He said that Lancaster University has a world-renowned business school and BWU is looking forward to establishing a cooperative relationship with Lancaster University.

 

Professor David Higgitt expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome from BWU. He said that Lancaster University has also been actively developing partnerships around the world. At present, Lancaster University has established branch campuses in Ghana, China, Malaysia, Germany and the Chinese campus is Lancaster University College at Beijing Jiaotong University. As the academic dean of the College, Professor David Higgitt introduced the operation of the College in detail.


Professor Tom Buckley,via the remote video conference system, introduced the situation of Lancaster University and the progress of Lancaster University’s internationalization. He expressed the hope of visiting BWU and that the cooperation talks between the two sides could achieve substantive results.

 

Then the two parties discussed the cooperation details in "3+1" undergraduate joint training program, the "3+1+1" undergraduate and master joint training program, short-term exchanges of students, and mutual visits of teachers in the three majors of Finance (Futures and Securities), Business Administration and Business English. Both sides agreed to sign a memorandum of cooperation as soon as possible.



The delegation also visited international student classrooms and National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center -- Logistics System and Technology Experimental Teaching Center.

 

Representatives from Department of International Relations also attended the meeting.
